We are pleased to announce that the Orford Music Award is back for a second edition! The objective of this competition is to offer a unique stepping stone for the Academy’s students to launch an international career.
The winner of the 2016 edition, violinist Mai Tategami, will offer several concerts in the next year: Japan tour in fall 2017; Mooredales Recital Series 2017-2018; Orford Music Festival 2017 and an European tour with the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.
Some features have been added to the 2017 edition. The Orford Music Award will take place from July 23 to July 30, 2017. After the application deadline, an external jury will select a group of semi-finalists who will be invited to take part in this intensive week. All candidates will participate in workshops given by agents and professionals of the classical music industry to guide them in the next steps of their professional life. Three semi-finals will be held on July 24, 25 and 26 and four students will take part in the final on July 28.

Following the confirmation of your stay at the Orford Music Academy, you will be invited to send us the following audition materials by May 4, 2017:
Three works of various styles, which must include a work from the standard virtuosic repertoire. They must have been recorded after July 1st, 2016. The applicant’s name and title of pieces must be clearly identified. Note that it is possible to use the same recording you used when you applied to the Orford Music Academy.
