      Rachel Kerr is an extremely versatile pianist, appearing internationally as a soloist, a chamber musician and a vocal coach. As a rehearsal pianist for the Canadian Opera Company, she has worked on many productions since 2017, which include the creation in workshop of new operas by Rufus Wainwright and Ana Sokolovic. Other credits include a staff pianist position at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and fellowships at the Toronto Summer Music Festival and Tanglewood Music Center. Rachael has also been a rehearsal pianist for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in numerous projects, including world premieres by Brett Dean, Vincent Ho and Gary Kulesha. Other past rehearsal piano engagements at the TSO include Massenet’s Thaïs, Britten’s War Requiem, Wagner’s Die Walküre, Mozart’s Requiem, Shostakovitch’s Symphony no. 13, and she was concurrently a faculty instructor in music theory.

      She returned to the Toronto Summer Music Festival as a guest artist for the 2019 summer, performing in the opening night gala at the Koerner Hall. This season, she was a rehearsal pianist for COC productions of Turandot, Hänsel and Gretel, The Barber of Seville and Aida. She joined the Against the Grain Theatre as the music director and pianist for Figaro’s Wedding. Rachael was also featured in a recital tour under the auspices of the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, premiering a new song cycle commissioned by the Canadian Art Song Project.
