Registration, fees & scholarships
Who can apply?
The Orford Music Academy is intended for university-level students ages 18 to 30. On rare occasions, we may accept students outside this age group.
Application & Audition Process
After you submit your online application and send in your audition materials, we assemble a confidential committee of teachers to determine the audition results. You should receive an answer from us 3-4 weeks after the application deadline.

Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of $85 for all Academy Master Classes and Workshops.
Tuition Fees
Master Classes
Multi-Level Rates:
- 1 week at Orford: $1,200/week
- 2 weeks at Orford: $1,150/week
- 3 or more weeks: $1,100/week
Workshops
Multi-Level Rates:
- 1-week workshop: $1100
- 2-week workshop: $2200
Tuition fees include:
- 2.5 hours of individual instruction per week
- 1 group activity (master class, Q&A, technique class)
- 1+ student concerts per week
- Access to a collaborative pianist
- Access to lectures presented by both music and non-music professionals on various subjects pertaining to a musician’s career, such as technique, finance, psychology, fitness, etc.
Save Your Place
If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of acceptance. An invoice indicating the specific classes into which you have been accepted, and the full cost of your stay, will be included. In order to save your place, you must pay a deposit (50% of the invoiced amount) within 14 days of receiving the letter. If you do not meet this deadline, your place may be given to a student on the waiting list.
Financial Assistance & Scholarships
Thanks to Orford Music’s scholarship fund, all students aged 30 and under are eligible to obtain a partial or full scholarship if they register and submit all required audition materials before February 2, 2023.
Rotary Scholarship & Grants
Rotary scholarships and grants are currently managed by local clubs and districts. Interested applicants should therefore apply through a local Rotary Club. Please follow this link {link to https://my.rotary.org/en/club-search} to locate a club in your area.

Credits from the Université de Sherbrooke
The École de musique de l’Université de Sherbrooke can grant school credits to students who have been trained at Orford Music. These credits cannot be transferred to your university, but may lead to a diploma from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Confidentiality
The Privacy Act stipulates that all information related to an individual is confidential. Orford Music fully intends to abide by the law: our institution will only transfer relevant academic information and use students’ pictures with the student’s prior authorization, signed upon arrival.
Cancelation
Should you decide to cancel your participation in the Academy, the following policy applies:
- 1st Payment (50% of the total fee): non-refundable
- 2nd Payment (remainder of fee): refundable, less a $60 administration fee, only if the student notifies the Academy Coordinator by e-mail (admissions@orford.mu) no less than 30 days before the first day of the session start date
If a medical problem prevents you from taking part in the Orford Music Academy, your deposit may be used for the subsequent year. However, you must go through the full audition process and be accepted again. A medical certificate must be provided to be eligible for a fee transfer. Scholarships are non-transferable.
