The Orford Improvisation Ensemble presents live performances and workshops of improvised music, offering an engaging experience for curious audiences and music students alike. By combining original compositions with improvised music, the ensemble seeks to balance finely-tuned technique with the excitement of creating music spontaneously, in real time.
After completing a session at Orford Music Academy, the ensemble toured in Sweden with Anders Astrand, giving performances and workshops at a number of music schools. The ensemble includes clarinetist Lara Mitofsky Neuss (DMA candidate, Florida State University), oboist Angela Schleihauf (M.Mus McGill and Three Little Birds), bassist Gaspard Daigle (M. Mus, Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, Orchestre Symphonique de L’Estuaire) and pianist Basil Vandervort-Charbonneau (M.Mus candidate, Université de Montréal). The Orford Improvisation Ensemble will be returning to its roots at the Orford Music Academy for a residency during the Summer of 2019.
