Specializing in the chamber music repertoire for piano and strings, Claire Ouellet performs regularly on the Canadian and international scenes. Her career as a soloist has taken her to France, Switzerland, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Spain, and Mexico. Recognized for her sensibility, her refined tone, her solid technique and her ability to communicate with the audience, Claire has frequently been called upon to collaborate with a broad range of well-known artists. She has made several solo appearances with a number of orchestras, given concerts at major festivals, performed on Canadian and foreign radio, toured with the Jeunesses musicales du Canada and has recorded five CDs.
Trained by Carlos Feliciati at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Chicoutimi, she pursued her training in Paris for three years. Recipient of the First Prize in piano at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, Claire holds a doctorate in interpretation from the University of Montreal and has been a pianist and a professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 1995. She is an accompanist for the Orford Music Academy, the Camp musical des Laurentides and the Concours musical international de Montréal.
Claire is a member of the Ouellet-Murray Piano Duo and the Orford Six Pianos, with whom she recently recorded a second album.
