Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Maria Chirokoliyska discovered the double bass at the age of nine and embraced it with early passion. Her talent quickly distinguished her: at sixteen, she won First Prize at the National “Young Talents” Competition in Sofia, followed by international awards in Provadia, Woldzegarten, and Cremona, where she received the prestigious First Prize at the Giovanni Bottesini International Competition.
