    • Chopin : Études transcendantes en jazz

      Concert

Discover an engaging program where selected Chopin Etudes op. 10 and op. 25 are reinvented through original arrangements blending classical and jazz. Each study is carefully transformed into a new musical context, integrating the richness of jazz styles from around the world. These arrangements technically challenge the original versions by introducing new virtuosities inspired by contemporary and classical jazz, offering a stimulating experience for passionate music enthusiasts.

Musical influences range from Cuban Montuno, Boogie-Woogie, Tango, Gospel, to Ragtime. Accessible to both connoisseurs and newcomers alike, these reinterpretations will allow you to rediscover Chopin’s masterpieces in an innovative and dynamic way, highlighting the timeless ability of great music to reinvent itself through the ages.

      Matt Herskowitz
Combining the superlative technique of a classical virtuoso with his mastery of jazz, world music, and free improvisation, Matt Herskowitz brings a unique and personal voice to each musical style he explores. Over the past decade, the virtuoso pianist has performed at concerts and festivals around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Cologne Philharmonie, and several European festivals.

His debut album for Justin Time Records, Jerusalem Trilogy (2010), showcases his original compositions and arrangements—an innovative fusion of jazz and classical music, incorporating Jewish and Arabic musical styles. The album was nominated for a Juno Award in 2011 in the category of Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year.
