      Callum Smart

      Faculty: Callum Smart Musical Instrument: Violin
      July 7 to July 13, 2024,
      July 14 to July 20, 2024
    • Master classes include the following:
•	2.5 hours of one-on-one lessons per week
•	Group activity (master class, Q&A session, technique classes) 
•	The option to participate in one or more student concerts 
•	Access to a collaborative pianist 
•	Networking activities with fellow musicians 
•	Access to conferences presented by musicians and guests from various backgrounds on topics related to a musician's career such as technique, finances, psychology, physical fitness, and more
•	Accommodation in one of our two artist residences
•	Three meals a day, as well as full access to the kitchen and common areas 
•	Practice studios equipped with pianos (available 6AM-11PM)
•	Housekeeping, laundry (for a fee), parking, and free WiFi (free)
•	Free tickets to live performances in the Gilles-Lefebvre Concert Hall (subject to availability)
•	The opportunity to explore the beautiful Mont-Orford National Park

      Callum Smart is quickly developing an international reputation as one of Britain’s finest young violinists and an innovative pedagogue. He is celebrated for the sincerity of his singing line, combining ‘brilliant technique with the confidence to take risks’ (Bachtrack) and his ‘utterly convincing’ interpretations (BBC Music Magazine). Recognised as a rising star since winning the BBC Young Musician strings category and being the top European prize-winner at the Menuhin Competition in 2010, Smart now enjoys concert appearances with the UK’s leading orchestras.

      During your stay at Orford Music, you will create unforgettable memories while evolving into the artist you aspire to be. Orford Music’s master classes are unique opportunities to work on your goals with the mentors of your choice.

      The master classes include the following elements:

      • Master classes or individual lessons lasting 2.5 hours per week
      • Group activities (master class, Q&A sessions, technical lessons)
      • Opportunity to perform in student concerts
      • Opportunity to perform in paid concerts
      • Access to a collaborative pianist
      • Networking activities with faculty members and the student community
      • Access to conferences on various topics related to a career in music (e.g., mental health, collaboration between artistic disciplines, stage presence development, etc.)
      • Accommodation in one of our two residences
      • Three meals a day, as well as full access to a kitchen and common areas
      • Rehearsal studios equipped with pianos (available from 6AM to 11PM)
      • Housekeeping, laundry facilities (for a fee), parking, and free Wi-Fi
      • Free tickets to concerts at the Gilles-Lefebvre Hall (subject to availability)
      • Opportunity to explore the beautiful landscapes of Mont-Orford National Park, the majestic Lake Memphremagog, and the tourist activities in the city of Magog
