Concert
The Orford Music Young Philanthropists Committee invites music-lovers to this benefit concert featuring Flore Laurentienne!
Flore Laurentienne is an instrumental project born from a successful marriage between neoclassical and electronic music influences. Eight musicians will take the stage to unveil “8 Tableaux,” an album released in March 2024, inspired by the work of the painter Jean-Paul Riopelle. They will also perform works from the albums “8 Tableaux” and “Volume II”.
Albums by Flore Laurentienne have received several awards, including two Félix awards and multiple nominations at the ADISQ Gala, the JUNO Awards, as well as being listed for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize. The project is part of the new era of instrumental music, sharing the same artistic horizons as Jean-Michel Blais and Alexandra Stréliski.

Mathieu David Gagnon
Student turned master, Mathieu David Gagnon has long worked in the shadows of several remarkable projects. In his early days, although his college studies quickly revealed his talents in classical guitar, he didn’t hesitate to push his knowledge to another level. Thus, in 2010, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in composition from the Faculty of Music at the Université de Montréal. However, his curious nature didn’t make this accomplishment just an introduction to a larger academic project. In search of answers to his many questions and with the ambition to learn the art of fugue, Mathieu packed his bags for France in 2011. He spent the next three years studying composition and orchestration, traveling between the Conservatoire d’Aubervilliers in Paris and the Conservatoire de Bordeaux.
